9th Post

In my career of cinema and television I don't have any courses of speciality. I think it's very bad because the university doesn't prepare us with a kind of advantage in some areas. I think it is in this way because the career is very young in the university, so the annual program of study is a little untidy and inexperienced.

On this four years I had a lot of little courses about something seems like speciality, but the problems are many. We don't have the option to choose one or another course, because all of those are obligatory. Also we don't choose a specifical area because it doesn't exist a speciality that continued for all the career. So we learned a lot of many fields but on very superficial way. And finally, many  subjects of this modules (of the central cinema course) were repeated.

But apart from all of those problems, I'll have in mind take any courses in the future. In the different areas of cinema brings to me I like film edition and assistant director. Also I would take something more theoretical subjects like

I don't have any idea about big parties in Chile or top ten discotheques too. I think it is because I don't like dance a lot, because I really uncoordinated and a little bashful. So, I prefer go to any house with my friends and spend the time with their eating or drinking.

In old new years I went to one or two new year’s parties when you must brought tickets to got in and I don’t enjoyed their a lot. Another years, I stayed at home whit my family but I suppose I will talk about now of the party on 2008.

Well, I remember this party because these year was the last one on high school. So, with my closer friends and another classmates we met in the house of one of them after the midnight.
But the story started before. In my house, my mom prepared a fantastic dinner with my aunt and my grandmother. I remember it was a salmon with margarita sauce and duchess potatoes.

Then, my friend Julio (who played drums in my school musical band),

why so good
who were you with
any problems?
what did you eat and drink?

Green planet

I feel very bad because I started to think about environmentally friendly practices and I don't find many habits in my daily life.
I think it's a big problem because I don't help the place where I live, but after a few minutes I found little things that I can help me in this embarrassing position.

In my house all of my family separate tins of beers or some foods like fish or tinned fruits and glass and plastic bottles of the rest of the garbage, because we know people who take it for recycling and win some money.

Also we have in the bathroom a toilet that have two options when we pulled the chain, so we can save the half of the hold back with water and spend less that the common toilet that throw all water.

And in the garden my family have a lemon tree, orange tree, apricot tree and persimmon tree  about long time ago. We used to have tomatoes, chili and onion but this vegetables are more difficult to keep. All of this help to eat fruit of the season and don't frozen fruit or transgenic.

Maybe the people haven't ecologic habits (even me) because we are accustomed to buy all  and then trowed away very quicky. So we don't take the time to find another options like keep the car in our houses and use a bike or start to walk more. For me that will be a good option, because I used a lot the transport system with the excuse that I live so far away of the downtown.

It's not necessary join to any eco-organisations to reduce our carbon foootprint. We can do a little effort every day to clean our world. So I begin to save money to buy a bike... good for my body and my pocket. Only missing more bike routes in Santiago.

Fatality

One of my favourite video game is Mortal Kombat, specifically Mortal Kombat II for Super Nintendo.
I started to play Mortal Kombat when my older cousin lent to me and my sisters his console for the winter holidays. In this ocassion he gave us two video games: "Donkey Kong" and "Mortal Kombart II". I was very young, about 5 years old, so I didn't understand very good this games... but I remember that I spent a lot of time killing the characters of this video game in front of the television.

I suppose I liked MK more than DK because it was more easy for me because I just pressed a lot of buttons and I could make some tricks with the fighters. I used to played with my sisters so I didn`t need many training for confronted their.

I always chose two fighters: Kitana or Mileena because they  were the only women in the game. This is very common when we are little.

But this video game was mine only for a few months so I never could complete it :(

Finally, after many years I started to play this video game again because I gave to my boyfriend a new version of Mortal Kombat, now for Play Station 3 and we can fight together.

Second Season of Homeland

The Guardian wrote an article about the new season of Homeland, a TV serie that won four prizes on Emmy Awards the last week. The expectations of the audience are very high for the premiere on October 7th (UK).

The article explains the conflict between Nicholas Brody and Carrie Mathison . Brody is a marine of USA who was eight years captived by Al-Qaida and then he returns to his home with his family. Mathison used to work for CIA but she was fired because she suspects Brody convert to a terrorist under Abu Nazir.

Today I don't feel very good because the spring brings to me a big allergy so....... I choose very quickly a painter to write about: Salvador Dalí.

I remember a book of this painter that my father bought to my sister on her birthday long time ago. This painter makes me a strange sensation because I was very little and I used to see realism pictures with fruits or beautiful scenery.

Dalí was a spanish painter, sculptor and writer who is famous for his surrealism style even  screenplay of movies like "Un perro andaluz" directed by Luis Buñuel.
He is very recognized for his special mustache and for his important career with about 1.500 pictures.

His pictures give many possibilities of fantanstic worlds with strange figures taken of crazy dreams, but all of these are combined in one big piece.

Here we are again

This year I learned a lot of things about how television works. To be honest, in the beginning I didn't like TV because the chilean programs are really bad and the channel environment is very hard and unfriendly.

But in the first term, my television class gives to me another experiences (even though I didn't like my teacher). We learned new ways to work in group, many times under pressure for the time. Also to respect different jobs inside the tv studio, and how we can make interesting tv programs with little economic resources.

But the most important thing I learned in my class was the "switch". I really love it, is so easy and enjoyable. I can take the control of three or four cameras and choose what of these are into the air.
About sports I dind't practice swimming, my favourite sport, because I was a little lazy, but now I retake it and I very tired but happy.

I hope this term will be like the past, because I didn't have a serious problems in my life. I learned a lot about something I thought boring.

Goodbye my friend

I had never had a blog before. When I was in high school I used to wrote in a notebook cover with newspaper or on pages like Fotolog (a horrible past we all had jajaja) and in MySpace where I could upload a song or any video with my personal words about the day. Well, the true is I'm really suspicious with my thoughts.
I like writting but I don't like publishing in websites where strange people can read it, so if I decide to do, I keep the link of my sites in very closed secret.
But all of this change when I began my career. I had a lot of work so I left writting and I never use again all of this secret pages. Now all of these are closed, until this spring term.
In my English class I must retake my old habit but the difference is now I should do in English.
It has been very intersting and entertaining because I have a new blog where I left my comments and I can write about things I like as movies, photographs, books and music. So I can learn and practice another language and have a good time.

This work is only one time in the week. So is not very hard for me I guess. Is a different way to become accustomed to think, write, read and talk in English about personal things that my classmates will read after.

But I found a little problem in this blog: some days I'm really tired after a long day of class and I must sit in front of computer... this is terrible. In moments like those I think I could be in my bed rest and writing on my blog at the same time, but I can't because I need a good attendance in my English class.
This is all I think. Goodbye classmates!

Movie guide

Bazuca is a company that sells dvd, blu-ray and online movies, books and video games in  our country on internet. Also, offers monthly subscription plans for movies that Bazuca staff carry to your home without extra charges.
I hired a plan so I must check the website to know movie releases and choose it for my list of the month.

But the true is I visited bazuca.com before y get my plan. In this web page I can found a lot of movies, directors, actors and comentaries about movies and tv series. I can search some movie and the web recommends to me another similar to the first. I visit it every day so I'm keep abreast with foreign and national releases. And sometimes, if I can't free time to go to cinema I see on demand movies on high definition that aren't on dvd yet.
Another sections are similiar. Books and games of Play Station 3, Xbox 360 and Wii are online so anyone can know and decide to buy or rent it.
The good of this web page is you don't need to be registered to see anything, unless you want to buy something.

A moment suspended

Today, I choose "The Truce" or it original title "La Tregua". This is a book I read in high school about five years ago. I remember it because I usually hated another books that I must read for my spanish class, so this and "100 años de soledad" are those I liked and read with time before my exam of literature.

Mario Benedetti wrote this work in 1959 about a men called Martín Santomé. He works a lot, is widower and he has 3 children but they don't have a good relation and comunication with their. He is very lonely and his life is the same every day until he meet Laura, a young women who start working in the company of Martín.
They fall in love and Martin´s life change in 360°. But this happiness is short because Laura dies suddenly, so Martin comes back to live his old life.
I really like this story because Benedetti wrote it like a diary, where Martin left his feelings and adventures of his days. "The Truce" talks about routine and how we should enjoy every moment of our lifes because good and bad things come and go.

A review of the book on Amazon:

4 of 5 people found the following review helpful
Love, Life and Solitude 30 May 2001

By René Orellano - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
this is one of the greatest works by Mario Benedetti, a story of sadness, solitude and routine. One great virtue of this book is the way it transmits all the moods that the author is presenting through it's descriptions and the way of living of the characters. La Tregua is about love, life, and the reality of a world who doesn't allows us to live as we may want to. There is people who work for a living and there are many who live to work. Share with Martin Santomé and Laura Avellaneda the social dilema that Benedetti is Presenting us.
I'm completely agree with René, because Benedetti relates daily lifes (that are very difficult to described) in an interesting and delicate way.

Emilia and the ghost

Last night I sleep just an hour because I made a work for university so my day was very long and tiring. But today I have the pleasure of make a interesting interview to Emilia Aguilar in my English class, and I forget my lack of sleep.
Emilia is my classmate in some classes at "ICEI". She studies journalism and I study cinema and television, but it doesn't matter because we have some communication lessons together.
In this afternoon, I have some curious about the successful of the TV program "Psíquicos, están entre nosotros" so I ask to Emilia about it. She hasn't seen this TV show on Chilevisión, and she laughed for my question. Well, the true is I saw this program for a few minutes some day and I think that it's terrible... so bad but a little funny.
And after my first question I descovered the true about Emilia's house.
She lives in Peñalolén since 12 years ago in new buildings. But she doesn't know about these lands were a fields planted with vines before she and her family arrived there.
And this is very important to explain the strange stories of odd sounds and dark shadows around Emilia's house.
Her father saw in the middle of the night the back of a women down by the stairs of his house. She was a peculiar dark shadow. I think it was very scary for him, but Emilia says to me that these situations are very commun.
Sometimes she hears sounds of invisible people using computer's keyboard and her brothers listen it too. I can't imagine live with ghosts, their scare me a lot, but Emilia takes it very well because she think that these dead spirits are harmless.

Lines

This is Toku Konno, a japanese tsunami survivor of March 2011. She has been photographed by Denis Rouvre, a french photographer, portraitist of many famous around the world.
Denis took many photos in Japan of people survived at this tragedy. He made a sitting in studio after the earthquake and tsunami hit that country. This photo is one of those and is third on singles prize of portraits category in World Press Photo, a famous foundation about photojournalism and documentary photography that receives many works of worldsides.

I like it because the face lines are very deep. Her eyes hides many feelings and suffering for the tragedy. I think is very difficult take photos about terrible situations and is more complicated make portraits of this afected people. Sometimes photographers cross the line and choose awful events to make their photos at that very moment. I prefer something like this. Is not necessary for me see destroyed houses and many people crying for tsunami. Im agree with the decision of take the expresion of this oldest woman. Her face say more that Japan on ruins.

A delicate story

I have in my mind a lot of greats movies like Christopher Nolan's films or "Fargo" and "Raising Arizona" of Coen Brothers but today I will talk about the film "Turtles can fly". I don't wanna choose something of Hollywood because they are so famous, so they don't need flattering words by me.
This is a iranian movie of 2004 written and directed by Bahman Ghobadi about Iraq's war against Estados Unidos. The difference in this movie with another war films is in actors. All of them are kids, and they show how live the consequence of violence and abuse for adults that kill for more power.
The story take place in a camp of a little town on Iraq, where children live their innocent days with bombs and mutilated bodies, but they are happy and play with each other.

I love this film because is so hard and delicate at once. Kids are little persons that have rules and hierarchy in the same way as adults are. Those scenes are shocking for a few moments.
About technical terms, photography is wonderful. Places are beautiful but dangerous for these kids who act in the most real performance of their lifes because many of them aren't professional, but they play like facts viewed before.

(Sorry for dubbing)

My precious

My father always dreamed have a reflex camera. When I was in the school he brought to me a little compact camera Sony and in this moment I begin to take many pictures in everywhere. Seven years ago it was a amazing camera, but the technology advance very quickly, so my father bring to me last year the best gift of the world: a digital slr camera, brand Nikon.

Now I can work very good because I'm studying to be a filmmaker and this object help me a lot. I use it when I travel, on meeting , in familiar celebrations, in concerts, in university homeworks and sometimes to do little business. This camera is very good because records in Full HD and has high resolution to take a photograph in different light conditions. I like it because it's a incentive from my dad to be best every day.
The only problem is I used my camera and in the future I will not change it for another. Well, only for one better than my camera.

She changes your mind

Well, is very difficult choose some favourite band because i don't have only one in my head now. So, after think for a moment I decided to present to you Copeland.
This is a american band formed in 2001 but today they are no longer together to keep playing anymore :(
People say that Copeland is a indie rock band, but I don't sure of this category because I think it's very vague and general ... sometimes many bands are called "indie" but exist a lot of differences between their music. These bands are popular for they don't belong a big record label.

I listened Copeland when I was 15 or 16 years old. I remember my school time and how I felt their lyrics. Well, sometimes it was a little sad and existencialist.
But today, the most important thing of Copeland to me is their music and the voice of the lead singer. I like very much because his voice is very high and harmonic. Also the piano is wonderful in a lots of their songs.

I like many songs of them: "Careful now", "She changes your mind" or "Strange and unprepared", but now I show you a famous cover made for Copeland of the song "Black hole sun" of Soundgarden. I hope you like this version.

21 years in San Bernardo

San Bernardo is a district  located at the south of Santiago. Many times my friends and classmates say that I live in a farm with cows and pigs and they think that I go to the university in a chariot drawn by horses. But this place have good and bad things like another place in the world.

Good things :)
This place it's very interesting because there are a lot of old traditional buildings. There are many houses with straw and cement walls that have more than one hundred years. There is a station of trains called "Estación San Bernardo".
In the center of San Bernardo there is a cathedral with a big bell, there is the "plaza de armas" and the office of governance. This is very interesting because the city is organizated  like the old architecture towns.

Bad things :(
There aren't many bars to go at the night with friends. This is a horrible problem because I don't have many places to have a good time.
There is too far to the center of city and my university. All days I have to travel for oven a hour and "transantiago" it's so bad!
There isn't a place to rest, because it's a big and noisy city. Also isn´t a good place to live because it's soo far of everything.

Anyway, I've lived 21 years in San Bernardo and I think It wasn't so bad.

Some things about me

Hi classmates, my name is Josefa Ignacia Valenzuela Poblete, but people call me Jo or Jose. I think that's ok because my complete first name it's so serious and crude.
I live with my father called Rubén (he looks a lot like "Gato Alquinta" ex lead singer of "Los Jaivas"), with my mom  Isabel and one of my two sisters called Andrea. Dany, my older sister, left home a month ago to work at María Pinto in a school of social risk.
I live in San Bernardo, to far of the center of Santiago, but I don't care the distance because I use the bus trip to read o listen music.
I like fast food but it's not very healthy so I have compensated this with my favourite sport: swimming... but the only problem is I don't have free time to practice it :(
